Book of spells

I'm over the moon I was able to create another mini album for Halloween, allowing me to combine so many products in just one project. Hope you like my little book of spells, or should I say my little book of shakers!

Book front and back covers

For the cover, I used the Book die from the Stamp Market which I die cut from white paper. I also created an opening for the shaker with the Hero Arts Infinity rectangle nested dies. I then blended Distress oxides Vintage photo and Ground espresso to give it the Vintage look of old leather books. I also stamped the Hero Arts Cobblestone background to give the illusion of cracked leather or a crocodile finish, using gold ink for more fun.

I stamped the title with versamark and heat set it with California gold powder from Wow. To echo the golden sparkle, I also die cut the limit between the cover and spine from gold glitter cardstock. I embossed the spine title in white.

For the shaker, I used the Ghostly glitz sequin mix from This Calls for Confetti. And to finish the front, I added a cute cat and books from the Purrfectly wicked set from Lawn Fawn.

For the back cover, I just created a simple background with no decoration, but the same leather look as for the front.

Products

Book die, The Stamp Market (Big book)
Infinity rectangle dies, Hero Arts (shaker opening)
Book of spells, The Stamp Market (big sentiment)
Purrfectly wicked, Lawn Fawn (cat and books)
Cobblestone background stamp, Hero Arts (book golden leather texture)

Distress oxides Vintage photo and Ground Espresso. Tsukineko Brilliance Galaxy gold (leather details). Wowembossing powders white and California gold

I used the Book die to die cut a bunch of pages to create the mini-album. I used the die on the regular side for even pages and the reverse page for odd pages.

Binding and end papers

To bind the book, I used 3 rings and a coordinating die from Comptoir du scrap, to create extensions with the punch holes. I glued the extensions between the 2 book pages, when assembling them back to back.

For the paste down end papers on both sides, I used the Fangtastic friends and add-on from Lawn Fawn. On one side, there is a little placeholder to indicate ownership, which I thought would be fun. The statement is from the set In the Study by Hero Arts.

In the background, I blended Distress oxides Milled lavender, Wilted violet and Villainous potion. With the Falling stars stencil from Tim Holtz and Stampers anonymous, I dabbed gold ink from the Tsukineko Brilliance Galaxy gold ink pad.

Behind the paste down end papers, I treated the background the same way as the front and back covers.

For the free end papers, I aged the edges with Distress oxide Vintage photo. I stamped the titles from the Book of spells and the To my boo from the Happy Halloween set, from Honeybee stamps, on the first page and let the last one empty. I also stamped a few stars from the Book of spells set, using again the Brilliance Galaxy gold ink.

Fresh potions

For the backgrounds, I used masking tape to create a limit between the wall and ground. For the ground, I blended Vintage photo and Ground espresso, and then stamped a wood effect with Tsukineko Toffee crunch ink and the Wood plank background stamp from My Favorite Things.

For the brick walls, I used two different stencils, one which I'm not sure where I got from and the other from Honeybee stamps, called Salvaged bricks. I blended Distress oxide Hickory smoke through the stencils.

I then created a cauldron with the Cauldron shaker die from The Stamp Market which I die cut from white cardstock. I then dabbed Distress oxides directly onto the cardstock, blending Hickory smoke and Black soot on the front and back die cuts.
I also die cut the front from white cardstock 7 times to use instead of 3D foam for the shaker and then the outline once from acetate.
I then assembled the shaker and used a mix from This Calls for Confetti and green eye clays from Trinity stamps.
For the bubbles that come with the cauldron shaker die set, I blended Distress oxides Old paper, Twisted citron and Rustic wilderness.

I also created a little mimicking scene with the cute cats and cauldron from the Purrfectly wicked and add-on sets from Lawn Fawn.

Brewed fesh daily

For the background, I used a 6x6 paper pad from My Favorite Things, called Orange sherbet and worked with that color palette for the different elements on that double page.

I used the Boo brew die set from Trinity Stamps for the pumpkin mug on the left page, which I die cut from white cardstock and colored with Distress oxides Scattered straw for the whipped cream, Vintage espresso and Ground espresso for the cinnamon stick, Dried marigold and Abandoned coral for the pumpkin and Twisted citron and Rustic wildnerness for the foliage.

The little pumpkin is from the Halloween mug additions by Pretty Pink Posh, which I inked with Distress oxides Spun sugar, Kitsch flamingo, Vintage photo and Ground espresso.

On the right page, I used the Winter mug from Pretty Pink Posh and created an opening for the shaker, with a die from the Fruit mug additions set. The witch hat, spiders and broom are from the Halloween mug additions set. I used Distress oxides Iced spruce, Black soot, Milled lavender, Wilted violet, Scattered straw, Vintage photo and Ground espresso to ink them.

I also used brushed gold cardstock for details on the hat and broom, and black glitter cardstock for the spiders. The sentiments are from the set Witches brew, from Papertrey Ink.

Once again, I added a few cats on both pages, from the Purrfectly wicked set from Lawn Fawn. For the shaker, I used the Ghostly glitz sequin mix from This Calls for Confetti.

Pick your poison

For the left page, I stamped the middle potion from the Honeybee stamps Perfect potions set, then masked the little label from th Halloween potion labels set. The text on the label is a mix from the Feeling frightful set, by Clearly Besotted, and the Purrfectly wicked set, by Lawn Fawn. I then masked the lid and label and stamped the 2 other potion vials and their labels. I then masked all the vials.

I blended Antique linen and Vintage photo in the background. Then, using a straight stencil, I masked the top part to create the ground by blending more Vintage photo and some Ground espresso. Using the My Favorite Things Woodplank background stamp, I created a wood effect, stamping vertically on the top part and horizontally on the bottom part, to give the illusion of a bookcase.

I made the exact same background on the right page.

I then unmasked and colored the potions with Copic markers and stamped the sentiment from the Hocus Pocus set, from Honeybee Stamps.

I then created the shakers, die cutting the Perfect potion shaker jars from white cardstock and blended Salvaged patina on the big vial vial and Frayed burlap on the small one. The wood lids were die cut from kraft cardstock and inked with Frayed burlap and Vintage photo. I also created labels for each from the Perfect potions set, as well as the Lovely birthday set by Penny black. The texts are from the Purrfectly wicked and Spooky village (little bat) sets by Lawn Fawn.

For the shaker bits, I used the Pretty Pink Posh Candy corn glass beads on one side and The Stamp Market Feelin' spooky sequin mix, and created a little scene with the Purrfectly wicked and add-on cats.

Happy Halloween

For the last double page, our Purrfectly wicked cats are on disguise. To create those, I did a bit of masking using additional sets from Lawn Fawn: the Costume party (broom, pumpkin treat basket, witch hat) and Happy Howloween (supery hero and fairy costumes), and then fussy cut the cats.

On the left page, I stamped the houses and tree from the Spooky village set from Lawn Fawn and masked them. On the right, I first die cut the opening from the Happy Haunting set and stamped the background house through the top panel. And I masked the house.

I then used the Nighttime sky stencil to mask the moon and masking tape at the bottom to reserve the grass area. For the sky, I blended Distress oxides Milled lavender around the moon, then Wilted violet and Villainous potion. Using the same stencil, I inked a few clouds, using white pigment ink.

For the grass, I blended Twisted citron, Rustick wilderness and Black soot. For the moon, I blended Squeeze lemonade, Speckled egg and Iced spruce. I then colored the images with Copic markers.

For the sentiment, I used the Happy halloween set by The Stamp Market. For the shaker, I used Spooky town by Picket Fence Studios
