and Mermaid Lagoon

Stenciling the same image behind a stamped image is a great way to give depth to a one layer background. This is what I did in this project, starting by stamping the beautiful Heartfelt blooms with black ink.

I also stamped the image 3 more times on masking paper. I fussy cut the masks and placed the first one over the stamped blooms.

I then used the Heartfelt blooms stencil set to create 3 more blooms in the background and fill in gaps, with Distress inks:
- Stencil 1: Dried Marigold
- Stencil 2: Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed
- Stencil 3: Wild honey
- Stencil 4: Salvaged Patina
- Stencil 5: Peacock Feathers and Wild honey
- Stencil 6: Mermaid Lagoon and Spiced Marmalade

I masked each bloom before stenciling the next. This is optional, as you could just near the previous blooms without stenciling over them, but I wanted a crisp and clean stenciling work and chose to mask the blooms. I placed the stencil in a different orientation each time to avoid repeating the pattern and also cover as much as possible of the background.Alternative, you could also flip the stencil to get a mirrored version.

I unmasked the blooms and colored the stamped ones with Copic markers: BG49, BG23, G00, B21 and B24 for the leaves, YR21, Y21, Y11, Y000 and E33 for the petals and YR27, YR24, YR21, Y21 and Y11 for the centers.

I stamped the blooms once more at the top of the panel. I also stamped the cute mice couple from the Sweet Friend stamp set on a piece of white cardstock with black ink, and colored them with Copic markers W5 to W1 and W00 markers. I used RV11, R00 and R000 for the cheeks and ears. With a Soufflé black glaze pen, I added details on the muzzles. For the boy's shorts, I used BG49, BG23 and G00. For the girl's dress, I used YR27, YR24, YR21, Y21 and Y13.

I then used the coordinating dies to die cut the image and also die cut it a second time from white cardstock to raise the image a bit. I adhered the two together with liquid adhesive.

Next, I die cut the Love die set from white cardstock for the outline and from orange glitter cardstock for the Love script. I adhered the script on the outline with liquid adhesive.

To finish the card, I adhered the panel onto the cardbase with liquid adhesive, and then glued the sentiment and mice in the middle.
