Sharing the Valentine's Day card I made for my husband.
No newbie on this card. I'm proud to have used only products available in my stash. This is one my goals this year, to rediscover some of the goodies in my stash.
I know some of the products I use are retired, so I'm sorry if this is creating more FOMO than actual inspiration, but I think you definitely should rediscover your own stash treasures and find creative ways of replacing sets with your own.
Products:
Bad influence (Honeybee stamps)
Sweet treats and Sweet truffles (Simon Says Stamp)
Ranger Distress oxides: Tattered rose, Saltwater taffy, Festive berries, Walnut stain and Vintage photo
+ Distress embossing glaze Vintage photo
To create this one layer card, I used the masking technique, stamping front images first, then masking them with the Whimsy Stamps No-fuss masking sheets. I used my regular Exacompta Bristol cardstock and Tsukineko Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp on cardstock and masking paper. I fussy cut all images with sharp scissors.
I started with the heart truffle, then the other truffle, the pig, the cupcake, the lollipop and finished with the chocolate box.
I then masked the bottom of the card with masking tape and blended Ranger Distress Oxide Tattered rose all over the upper part. I then blended Saltwater taffy from the top and finished with Festive berries at the very top. I blended all colors for a smooth finish.
I then used my Taylored Expression Anti-static powder too to dry the top right corner of my panel. I stamped the sentiment love you with Distress oxide Vintage photo a few times, using a brush to dab the ink on the stamp for a neat result. I then poured Distress embossing glaze Vintage photo over the sentiment and heat set it with my heat gun. The result wasn't as puffy as I wanted but when I tried to ink it a second time, the letters were no longer aligned, because paper retracted a little under the heat. So instead, I used Versamark and clear embossing powder for the second layer and it did the trick. I actually think it added a little something as the clear embossing created a very thin offset which makes it look like a sticker.
I then stamped the a choco-lot sentiment on white cardstock and used a strip die to cut it out. I decided to adhere it below the love you sentiment at an angle, as a second thought complement to the sentiment. The reason is I thought it would look nicer this way than stuck below the love you with no real possibility to stamp it over the embossed y.
I then colored the images with Copic markers before adhering the panel to the card base.
Thank you for reading this post and have a wonderful crafty time
